NACARA is a form of relief through which certain individuals from Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua may be eligible to adjust status to that of a permanent resident. There are two sections of NACARA; 202 and 203. Section 202 applies to Nicaraguans and Cubans who filed their NACARA application in March of 2000. In very limited circumstances, a national of Nicaragua may still apply under section 202 based on an alternative piece of legislation known as the LIFE Act.
