Oakland, Berkeley & Albany Criminal Appeals Defense Attorneys

A guilty verdict after trial can be appealed on several bases, including insufficient evidence, ineffective assistance of counsel, and erroneous court rulings regarding admission of evidence and jury instructions. Even after a guilty or no contest plea, an illegal sentence can be appealed. A notice of appeal must be filed within 60 days of judgment with the court of appeals in the district that has jurisdiction over the county superior court. In some cases a writ of habeas corpus or a writ of coram nobis may be appropriate.

The criminal attorneys at Surowitz and Bell can assist with these often complex criminal appeals for clients throughout California. Visit one of our offices in Oakland, Berkeley, or El Cerrito to speak to an attorney.
